The Refugee Response Ministry of WSFC is preparing info sessions and volunteer trainings for those who want to give time or resources to assist Afghans coming to the United States. The next training will be taking place via Zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. If you’d like to attend this meeting, please email nateandellen@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link. During this session they will focus on the following:
What is happening in Afghanistan and the subsequent arrival of Afghans in the United States
A brief overview of the US Refugee Resettlement program, through which newly arrived Afghans are being received and assisted
An invitation to join a Refugee Response Welcome Team, along with next steps for training and preparation

Catholic Charities Immigration and Refugee Services
In the past, we have hosted Catholic Charities here at McBIC as they have taught ESL classes to refugees. Currently those classes are taking place via Zoom. After reaching out to them, we learned of other ways that we can help as they prepare for the refugees:
Drop off the following at McBIC by Sept. 26:
Twin sheet sets (new or like new)
Full sheet sets (new or like new)
Large pots and pans
